The horror film franchise’s finale also topped the domestic box office
“Halloween Ends” had a healthy — albeit slightly underwhelming — box office performance in its debut weekend, but the 13th film in the popular horror franchise looks to have made up for it with a strong debut on Peacock, according to Whip Media’s latest movie ranker — which reflects data from TV time, a TV and movie app that tracks viewer interest from 22 million global registered users.
That’s because “Halloween Ends” was the most streamed movie in the U.S. last weekend, per Whip Media’s viewer data. The latest “Halloween” flick, starring Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, Michael Myers’ longtime nemesis, topped the streaming chart at the same time it topped the domestic box office, bringing in $41.2 million.

While that’s well ahead of the film’s $30 million budget, its ticket sales came in slightly below expectations. Independent trackers had expected “Halloween Ends”To at least match the $49.4 Million earned by “Halloween Kills”Last year. One reason could be that there were less-than-stellar customer reviews. “Halloween”Fans choose to view the new release on Peacock instead. (It’s worth pointing out “Halloween Kills”Peacock also released the film at the same time as it hit theaters 2021.
The horror theme continued with “Werewolf by Night” on Disney+, which dropped one spot from last week to take the silver medal in Whip Media’s rankings. The Marvel mini-movie, as previously reported, was described as “a”. “Marvel Studios Special Presentation” and sports a runtime of just under an hour; it stars Gael Garcia Bernal as the title character — aka Jack Russell in human form — who is a monster hunter who is called upon to capture and kill an elusive beast.
Netflix’s “Luckiest Girl Alive”Its staying power was evident as it moved up one place from last week to be the third most-streamed film. The mystery-thriller — based on the popular novel of the same name by Jessica Knoll — stars Mila Kunis as a woman who must grapple with a major secret after she’s interviewed for a true crime documentary. It’s not exactly a comedy but it’s not a horror.
Speaking of staying power: “Hocus Pocus 2”Disney+ enjoyed another strong week, achieving No. 4 on Whip Media’s ranker. The sequel to 1993’s “Hocus Pocus”The previous weekend, he was ranked second and first, respectively. “Hocus Pocus 2” — which had Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy reprise their roles — also continued to give a boost to “Hocus Pocus,”Last weekend, it was the 10th most watched movie.
The Halloween theme continued “The Curse of Bridge Hollow”The fifth spot. Netflix released the comedy-horror film last Friday. Marlon Wayans stars as a father who must save his small New England town from Halloween decorations.
Hulu has scored back-toback wins with romcom “Rosaline”The sixth place was won by “Hellraiser”In seventh place The most recent “Hellraiser” flick — the 11th overall in the franchise — dropped from its third place ranking last week.
It was also followed by this week “Thor: Love and Thunder,”This continues to be a strong weekly performer on Disney+.
Similarly, Netflix’s “Mr. Harrigan’s Phone,” based on a Stephen King novel, remained in the top 10 — falling from fifth to ninth place this week.
