Many people have grown accustomed to opening the laptop in their bedroom, or home office, and prefer to have it set up as they like.

Being back in the office, our at-home preferences typically don’t transfer to the way we decorate the joint working environment—and there isn’t much room to showcase some personality.

Yes, it is possible to buy plants that we can admire throughout the day. Some people even like to add some chic stationery to their desk. However, it’s almost impossible to make drastic customizations.

This is because it’s almost impossible for the average Joe.

Recently, a boss shared a story on Twitter about how a new employee asked him if he could paint his cubicle. You will be amazed at the transformation.

Mike Beckham, CEO at Simple Modern, tweeted. “Recently one of our newest team members asked if he could decorate his cubical. When I said yes, I wasn’t expecting this…”


That’s wood paneling and a stuffed mouse head, you see.

In a follow up tweet, the CEO showed another view of the office space.

“That’s a full wood cabin motif including a stove, hardwood floor, and stuffed moose head, “He tweeted.

“He told me afterward that he actually held back a bit. He had bought an authentic cabin chandelier but realized it was a bit much just before he hung it.”


The CEO praised the employee in the best possible way, and the employee was not in any trouble.

“Congrats @lucas_mundt, you win employee decorator of the year. We all salute you!”He wrote. “Having creative teammates like you is one of the things I enjoy most about Simple Modern.”
