For the first time, the iOS 16 update includes a fully customizable Lock Screen.

And now Google has created a set of iOS 16 Lock Screen widgets for you to enjoy – totally free of charge.

Google has four new widgets to showcase some of its best features, including a popular game.

First, make sure that your iPhone is up-to-date.

To check, go into Settings > General > Software Update.

The new widgets – as revealed by 9to5Google – include:

  • You can search – using search engine via Google Chrome
  • Incognito Search – the same as above, but in the private Incognito Mode
  • Voice Search – a similar search function, but using your voice
  • Chrome Dino Game – quick access to the dinosaur game hidden inside Google Chrome

These widgets can only be obtained if you have the most recent version of Google Chrome installed on the iPhone.

The Google Drive app can unlock additional widgets.

This will grant you access to Suggested files, Search and Starred from your Lock Screen.

Below is a guideline for editing your Lock Screen in iOS 16

Not all iPhone models will be able to get the Lock Screen.

iPhones may not be all created equal

Apple can’t support all iPhones forever – so very old iPhone models often lose access to updates.

Sometimes the old iPhones simply don’t have enough power or aren’t being used enough to warrant an upgrade.

Apple will now remove the iPhone 6S, iPhone 7 as well as the 1st-generation iPhone SE.

These handsets are compatible with 15.6.1 but will not get iOS 16.

You should immediately upgrade to a newer iPhone if you are using an older iPhone.

Here’s the full list of iOS 16 supported devices:

  • iPhone 14
  • iPhone 14 Plus
  • iPhone 14 Pro
