One America News turns to free broadcasts after pay-TV dumps Conservative Channel (Report).

One America News is making a comeback with an old technology: the antenna.

Bloomberg reportsThe conservative pro-Donald Trump channel is trying to replace the lost audience after Verizon and DirectTV dropped it from their TV lineups.

Robert Herring Sr., founder and owner of One America, urged viewers to urge their providers to restore the channel earlier this year.

Bloomberg reports that the station has been accused of misinformation regarding the 2020 election. It still faces numerous lawsuits for reporting.

OAN targets Pittsburgh; Las Vegas; Wichita Kansas; Jacksonville, Florida.

The company announced last month that it had signed a deal with Zito Media in Potter County, Pennsylvania to launch OAN in 22 US states. It stated that it was working quickly to get its message out before the midterm elections.

Bloomberg explains subchannels “are a little-noticed corner of the TV business”As more people turn off pay-TV, and reinstall antennas in their homes to get free broadcast stations, this trend is growing. According to Nielsen, 15% of American households now use antennas. This is up from 10% in 2010.

KPVM is a Las Vegas-based broadcast station that has a reach of approximately 875,000 households. It started OAN as a subchannel around a year ago and shares the same advertising inventory with OAN, Bloomberg reported.

“Viewers absolutely love it,”Vernon Van Winkle, chief executive of KPVM spoke highly of the network. “If my signal goes down for a second my phone lines are blowing up with people asking, ‘What’s going on?’”

Nielsen does not report OAN’s audience, and it is hard to determine exactly how many views it has, Bloomberg said. Subchannel advertising revenue is unlikely to be as lucrative than the subscription fees for satellite and cable services.

Angelo Carusone (president of Media Matters for America), said that although the effort won’t bring in much money for OAN it could help it keep connected to its supporters and make it more appealing to larger TV providers.

OAN’s strategy seems to be “let’s find as many distribution partners as we can,”Carusone was also added.

Other conservative networks, including Newsmax and Real America’s Voice, also use subchannels in various locations around the country, Bloomberg reported.
