Gogglebox and Countdown stars join forces for a new, quirky game show with a major twist

THE UK’s brainiest presenters – Countdown’s Susie Dent and Celebrity Gogglebox star Gyles Brandreth are joining forces for a unique show.

They will be performing a stage version on the award-winning podcast Something Rhymes with Purple.

The show will have a residency at the Fortune Theatre in London from Sunday, September 25 through Sunday, February 19, 2023

They’ll bring their infectious love of words and all the wordplay to the stage.

The show will combine, much-loved podcast segments including Susie’s Trio, Gyles’ poetry, the bizarre origins of sayings and a lot of myth busting.

Each show will have a different theme, and each episode will be recorded for the podcast.

From Sunday, September 25, through Sunday, February 19, 20,23, the show will be a resident at London’s Fortune Theatre.

Anyone wanting to purchase tickets is urged to check the ATG tickets website for the full schedule.

The theatre typically runs Tuesdays through Sundays.

Tickets for the 1 hour and 50 minute show will be available from £25, with a £3.80 transaction fee per ticket.

Audiences can also expect more of the Gogglebox star’s unique brand of poetry, as well as a deep dive into exposing myths about language.

Thrilled about the news, Gyles said: “Susie and I first met more than 25 years ago on Countdown. We enjoy exploring the worlds of language together, and we love to meet other people who love words.

“That’s why we’re so excited about Something Rhymes with Purple on Stage; it’s going to be a party for all our fellow language lovers!”

Describing the show and what fans can expect to see, a spokesperson for the Fortune Theatre said: “Uncover the hidden origins of language, understand how and why we use the words we use, enhance your vocabulary, and test your knowledge with two of the wittiest and finest wordsmiths.”
