Elizabeth Banks joins a Pre-Roe Era Drama Underground Abortion Band (Video).

In the first trailer “Call Jane,” it’s 1968 in Chicago, and Elizabeth Banks has just learned that she has only a 50% chance to live if she were to give birth. To save her life, her doctor recommends that she terminate her pregnancy immediately. However, the medical board of men has all voted “no”perform the procedure and let her know.

“I’m here, I’m right here,”Banks says nothing in front of this group of men who barely notices her.

That’s the set up for this pre-“Roe v. Wade” era drama called “Call Jane,”The true story of a group led by women to get abortions for women in desperate need. Banks transforms from a woman desperate for abortion to one who is on the front lines fighting for it.

“Call Jane” first made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival early this year, and while it was still timely then, it’s even more urgent now as the Dobbs decision has made abortions illegal again in many parts of the country.

The film stars Sigourney Weber, Chris Messina and Wunmi Moaku. It also stars Grace Edwards, Grace Edwards, John Magaro, Cory Michael Smith, Grace Edwards, and Chris Messina. The screenplay was written by Hayley Schore, Roshan Sethi, and produced by Robbie Brenner and David Wulf.
