After eight wildly successful seasons, ABC pulled the plug on the TGIF show’s staple. They blamed the decision on rising production costs. However, ratings were still quite strong. The finale of the show was viewed by 24 million viewers. It featured a two-part episode featuring little Michelle Tanner, played quite iconically by her twins. Mary-Kateand Ashley Olsen) temporarily lost her memory, when it aired on May 23, 1995.
And in those two-and-a-half decades, our obsession with affection for the ultimate symbol of the ’90s has endured. It has given rise to a series of five sequels. It’s the reason we refused to hear from the Olsen brothers, who repeatedly stated that they did not want to revisit a role in which they were cast before they had any cognitive ability.
