Given the unpredictable weather during winter, you’ll more than likely be relying on a clothes horse to dry your clothes after washing them until temperatures start heating up again.

TikTok users share the secret to speeding up laundry drying on clothes horses.

Cleaning guru @geo.cleans insists that using a desktop fan alongside a clothes horse will reduce humidity, meaning any washing hanging up will dry faster.

In a YouTube video, they demonstrated the technique that has been shared over 1.1million times.

The fan is placed on the windowsill, right next to the place where the clothes horse is set up. It blows towards the fan in the direction it was directed.

“If you rely on drying your clothes using a clothes horse, listen up,” They explained.

“Instead of waiting hours for your clothes to dry, just use a desktop fan. By circulating the air, you reduce the humidity around the clothes, which dries your clothes faster.”

The fan will speed up the drying process and prevent laundry from developing musty smells.

According to the cleaning fan, if the fan is placed above a radiator, it will blow warm air towards clothes horses. This will speed up drying.

“You’ll never have to deal with foisty smelling clothes again,” they insisted, as they captioned their video: “Drying clothes in winter is a pain, hopefully this will help!”

Thousands were seen commenting on the post, keen to try the trick out for themselves.

“Thanks, just moved into my new flat and having to use an airer. I’ll have to do this next time, especially with winter coming,” One person said this.

Another commented: “Why have I never thought of this?!”

A third wrote: “We do this too! Dries everything in under an hour,” before hitting back at those claiming it would rack up a huge electricity bill, as they added: “Also why do people think it’s expensive? It’s literally 15p a day.”

Others shared their own advice, with one person suggesting: “After a wash cycle I always do an extra spin in winter, makes hell of a difference.”

One more offered: “If you have a curtain rail in a room, hang the clothes on hangers and then o the rail, open the window and they dry a lot quicker.”
