Ellen DeGeneres was quick to discover him, and she signed him to eleveneleven, her record label. This sounds like a fairytale, but the label was not without its problems. In 2012, it would be considered dead, just a few years after its creation. Charlie Puth now speaks out about his experiences at the label and how he was treated during his early years of his career.
Puth was a recent guest on the Rolling Stone Music NowPodcast, where he spoke candidly about his beginning in the music business and how DeGeneres played an important role in it. Puth opened up about the lack support for the now defunct label.
After the creation of my demo EP, nobody was there. After that, I didn’t hear anything from anyone. It’s not fair to single people, but a group, all those in that room, just disappeared.
Puth said that he doesn’t. “talk shit on anybody”He also mentioned that he hasn’t spoken about his career when he was in the same space as Ellen DeGeneres. He mentioned that he felt like it had been a very short time and that it should have been. “onward and upward.”
He talked about how the pandemic had helped him reset his priorities. But it was not easy. He noted that he had lost two people who he felt he needed to be able to progress in his music career and to have a successful business relationship.

This is just a few days after Greyson Chance was signed to the label. spoke about the complete abandonmentHe felt at eleveneleven. Chance was a failure to perform and the label dropped him. Chance was the first artist Chance signed to her record company, and he was also discovered on YouTube. Although Chance clearly agreed with Puth that Chance felt abandoned at eleveneleven he also stated that his situation was not the same.

The criticism towards the environment at DeGeneres’s record label comes after controversy around the working environment at her famed daytime talk show was highly publicized. Ex-staff members blamed DeGeneres’s producers for creating a hostile work environment and claimed DeGeneres was rude towards them.
After 19 years of being on the air, the comedian made it clear that she was ending her show in 2022. The accusations of DeGeneres’ behavior led to decreased ratings and the show went out with more of a whimper than a bang. Kelly Clarkson’s daytime show filled the longtime host’s time slot.
Charlie Puth, who was a rock star at eleveneleven has become a top-recording artist and has received four Grammy nominations. He is now signed to Artist Partner Group, instead of Ellen Degeneres. His fourth studio album titled Charlie!It was released October 7th. 5 hits singles preceded it.
