Boris Johnson has delivered a pretty bizarre speech at the annual CBI conference and clearly even he was taken aback by how strange it was – so much so that he lost his place for almost half a minute.
Johnson described how much broadband coverage he had improved during his tenure as prime minister. Johnson then stumbled and fell silent, looking through his stack of papers. He was heavy breathing and mumbling. “forgive me”He tried again a few more times. After 25 minutes of excruciating pain, he finally found his place. He made a point about how people are likely to stay closer to their birthplaces to work because the government is amazing.
We believe this is what “levelling up” means but we can’t be sure…
Safe to say it was a pretty awkward moment and things didn’t go much better for the PM in the rest of the speech. Johnson also said that people should go back to work in the 25-minute mumblethon “to learn and compete”Claim “Mother Nature does not like working from home”. Twitter attacked him for suggesting that Pret branches and highrise buildings emerged from the Earth in flowers.
