Black Clover 368 bids farewell to WSJ as manga shifts to quarterly release

As the leaked spoilers for chapter 368 go viral, the Black Clover manga will be leaving Weekly Shonen Jump and changing to quarterly release.

It’s a landmark day for fans of the outstanding Black Clover franchise: the leaked spoilers for chapter 368 are jaw-dropping, the manga will be leaving Weekly Shonen Jump, and will switch to a quarterly release cycle – here is everything that you need to know.

Black Clover manga leaves WSJ and moves to quarterly release

As revealed on August 17, the Black Clover manga will actually be leaving the Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine after the publication of chapter 368 and will find a new home on Jump GIGA.

Announcing the series’ transfer, the Weekly Shonen Jump manga Twitter page revealed:

“Black Clover by Yuki Tabata will be officially transferring its serialization to Jump GIGA after Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #38. Black Clover is also promoting and reaching the ‘climax’ of its Final Arc through this magazine transfer. More details about the series will be given in the future.”

Fans of the Black Clover manga have known for some time that the series was moving towards its concluding story arc and this transfer of serialization confirms that Asta’s adventure will be coming to an end within the near future.

Unfortunately, a byproduct of the Black Clover manga leaving Weekly Shonen Jump for the Jump GIGA magazine is that new chapters will now be released quarterly (once every three months), compared to the weekly release that fans have experienced with WSJ.

In a special celebratory message shared online regarding this ground-breaking news, author Yuki Tabata acknowledged how “the increasing demands of the schedule for a weekly serialization has been clashing more and more with my own situation as a manga author.”

“As the serialization of Black Clover has been going on for a long time, the increasing demands of the schedule for a weekly serialization has been clashing more and more with my own situation as a manga author. Therefore, I’ve been discussing this with the editorial department for a while, and this time we have decided to transfer the serialization to GIGA.”

The iconic author and illustrator did admit that “It’s a sudden move and it might have surprised the readers” even going as far as to “apologize for not being able to finish the serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump.”

“However, with GIGA, I believe I can proceed with the climax of Black Clover in a more optimal condition, aligning with my personal situation as a writer! There are still quite a few stories I’d like to draw, that I must draw, so please look forward to them. I’ll do my best to bring Black Clover to a successful conclusion! While this may need a bit of your patience, I will definitely power up in the upcoming Winter issue of GIGA, so I would be grateful if you could keep an eye on Asta and everyone else’s future!”

Tabata’s final message in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine will read: “Farewell, happy hell! I’ve been greatly indebted to everyone for your help! Thank you very much!”

To recap: After the publication of chapter 368, the Black Clover manga will no longer be serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump and will instead transfer to Jump GIGA; which will now launch new chapters every quarter (three months).
