Ben Feigin is Dead: ‘Schitt’s Creek’ Executive Producer Was 47

Ben Feigin is an award-winning producer “Schitt’s Creek”The founder and CEO at Equation Unlimited, LLC, he died Monday from pancreatic cancer. He was 47. Feigin’s death was confirmed by United Talent Agency, his own former employer and the current employer of his wife.

Feigin was executive producer “Schitt’s Creek,” serving as a key force in the series’ development and launch. He is credited as the architect of the series’ non-traditional financing model and a key force in licensing the show territory by territory. Feigin also managed ancillary companies for the series such as the documentary. “Best Wishes, Warmest Regards: A Schitt’s Creek Farewell,”A pop-up immersive experience that is based on the show.

The final season of “Schitt’s Creek,”Feigin was awarded an Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, a PGA Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television for a Comedy and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Musical or Comedy Television Series. Feigin was also awarded a GLAAD media award for the best comedy series in 2020-2021.

Feigin was born in Silver Spring (Md.). He attended the University of California Santa Barbara, and then started working at Warner Bros. After leaving William Morris, Feigin met his wife and moved to UTA, The Collective, and Amblin Entertainment. Feigin worked for Warner Bros., where he was responsible for overseeing popular series like “Friends,” “The West Wing”And “ER.”

Feigin, who was instrumental in helping to establish a partnership with AOL in his early career, played a crucial role in the first ever livestreamed event. He also worked on the reunion of the comedy duo Cheech & Chong, executive producing 2008’s “Cheech & Chong: Roasted”Their concert film from 2010 “Cheech & Chong: Hey Watch This,”As well as brokering their first licensing and merchandise deal.

Feigin joined Anonymous Content 2006 to create their comedy and enterprise divisions. She also continues her work as a producer.

Feigin also participated in creative artistic commissions for Barack Obama as well as an exhibit for Grammy Museum about Chicano Art Movement. His alma mater, the University of California, Los Angeles and UCSB taught him classes. Additionally, Feigin maintained a long lineup of nonprofit work, including contributions to StandUp2Cancer, Gilda’s Club World-Wide, the Tony Hawk Foundation, the Creative Coalition and Laurene Powell Jobbs’ Emerson Collective.

The services will take place Thursday at Mount Sinai Cemetery Hollywood Hills. Feigin may be remembered by making a donation to Stand up to Cancer.

Heidi Feigin, his wife and Ellie, his 11-year-old daughter, are still with him.
