HOODED thugs fired fireworks at police on a residential street last evening, shocking footage shows.
The explosives were narrowly missed by the riot squad. They often went off by the homes of people as officers ran up and down the road wearing helmets and shields.
Cops were quick to get out of harm’s way when explosions suddenly occurred and attempted to move wheelie containers out of the way for the attackers in an effort to stop them exploding.
During a brief pause between rockets in scenes, a cloud of smoke enveloped them on the street. One Leeds resident called it a “cloud of smoke”. “warzone”.
Another video from the inside of a house shows fireworks passing a woman’s windows down the street, while others explode outside.
Some cars were also damaged and neighboring wheelie bins were set on fire as part of the ‘Binfire Night’carnage.
Hooded yobs were also captured, setting off fireworks while people drove by them.
Gee, 21, filmed the incident from her house. “oh my God”She was able to see at least 20 fireworks explode in just seconds from her window.
One man spoke in another clip “They’re firing them down the road. Literally you can’t drive past can you?”
Katie Ferenczy (21-year-old fashion stylist) was in her car when it was struck by a firework while she was driving past the police line. The moment was captured by a passenger. “f*cking hell”When they were struck.
Another resident stated: “It’s a f*cking warzone outside our house.”
Henri Bates (22) was in his car at the time that the under-attack riot cops marched by and wrote: “Mad one in Hyde Park, Leeds. I nearly got my head took off.”
Merseyside police detained eight teenagers after receiving reports that fireworks were being thrown at cars and criminal damage or obstruction of roads.
Manchester Yobs also used explosives to throw at motorists passing by, including a fire engine.
In a separate incident, firefighters were again targeted as they were setting up a bonfire.
Greater Manchester Police has issued a warning: “Antisocial behaviour with fireworks can be extremely dangerous.”
A bonfire parade in Lewes (East Sussex) resulted in minor injuries. One person was taken into custody for a violation of public order.
Each year, the town hosts Britain’s biggest bonfire party.
