What does Urusei Yatsura mean?
The upcoming Urusei Yatsura anime is an adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s original manga series, produced by David Productions (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Fire Force and Cells At Work).
Ataru Moroboshi is a young man who is not remarkable except for his extraordinary bad luck. One day, a fleet of aliens called the Oni visit Earth and Ataru is selected to represent humanity in a one vs one dual against the alien’s princess, a girl called Lum.
Luck is finally on Ataru’s side as the dual is actually a game of tag, which he wins by taking Lum’s bikini top as the alien princess cares more about personal reputation rather than winning the contest.
Unfortunately, Lum mistakes Ataru’s promise to marry his long-time girlfriend, Shinobu Miyake, as a promise to marry her – an idea that she becomes rather accustomed to. Ataru must live with Lum in order to make her happy, despite humanity’s fear of aliens.
Can Ataru not only save his relationship with Shinobu, but keep Lum happy enough so that the aliens don’t destroy Earth?
