Frank Morris and Clarence Anglin, brothers, were found missing from their early morning bed checks. The Federal Bureau of Investigation was immediately called to assist with their capture.

This was also not the first Alcatraz escape effort in history.
In total, 36 men attempted to escape from the jail in 14 separate escape attempts before it closed in 1963.
These men were either captured or didn’t survive.
