One incident has occurred where a pilot was sucked through the cockpit window while on a flight.

Two of the six cockpit windows in the BA flight from Birmingham and Malaga crashed into each other during a flight over Oxfordshire in 1990.

Captain Tim Lancaster was pulled from his chair and sucked out the window at 23,000ft.

The force almost knocked Nigel Ogden, the flight attendant, to the ground by tearing open the cockpit door.

After grabbing the legs of the pilot, Mr Ogden ran to the cockpit.

He was slowly falling out of the window while he held on to the pilot. But fortunately John Heward, a second cabin crew member, ran into the cockpit and grabbed the pilot by the belt.

While the co-pilot Alistair Atchinson took over the controls, a second flight attendant called Simon scrapped himself into the third pilot’s chair and helped to hold on to the chain of men.
