Yuji Naka is the creator of the “Sonic the Hedgehog”Japan: Friday, June 7, 2008: A Japanese court arrested a character and a video game series for insider trading.
Investigators have made an official announcement that Naka allegedly obtained sensitive data concerning a new game for smartphones in the “Dragon Quest”Square Enix employed the series as a Square Enix employee in January 2020. Square Enix was responsible for the game’s development and Aiming, an online game production company.
Naka is alleged to have purchased 10,000 shares Aiming stock for JPY2.8million ($20,000) before the publication of this information. It would be in violation the Financial Instruments and Exchange Law.
A Square Enix employee as well as his friend were also arrested on suspicion of pre-announcement purchase of Aiming shares. It is unknown if any of these men have sold their stock.
