Hidden characters

There are some obvious ones you should start with.

Tap the 123 button in the bottom left corner and then tap on the symbol button above ABC to see more icons.

It’s even more fun to hold down a key.

This gives you new options to type.

You can find variants of many letters in the English alphabet.

You can, for example, press and hold the letter A to add accents, tildes, and umlauts.

You can unlock more characters by using the symbol technique in the iPhone keyboard.

To unlock the longer (and even longer) version, hold on to a hyphen. em-dash, en-dash.

Holding on to a full stop will give you an ellipsis.

Remaining steadfast on the common symbols of the comma and quotation marks will help you to find new symbols.
