Woman Tends to 2 Abandoned Babies She Finds on Roadway, Sees Their Mom Coming with Police Later – Story of the Day

Two babies were found in danger near the road by a woman and she took them home. When she heard sirens outside her house, she was just about to call the cops. But she didn’t expect what would happen when the door opened.

Barbara was driving along the street and thought about calling her children at some point. Although they were all grown up and moved away from their Ohio hometown, she still misses them very much. She had been a single parent and had dedicated her entire life to raising them.

They made sure that she had enough money, but they were always too busy. Barbara was alone. But she didn’t like bothering them. It was a complicated situation. This was how it was supposed to work. Barbara put the babies in two of her car seats, which she kept, believing that it was a good thing that she still had them. They had been her dream to donate them for many years, but she kept putting off. As if it were meant to be. Once the babies were settled, she quickly drove away.

Barbara arrived home to find that the babies were still crying. They looked older than six month old. They were restless, and their diapers were full, so she changed them after asking a neighbor – a new mother – for a couple of spare diapers. After, she fed them pureed mashed potatoes with green beans.

“They must be here for the babies,”Barbara mused to herself, and she opened the door eagerly. Two officers ran to her door and a woman jumped out of her car. Barbara knew immediately that she was the mother because she was in complete hysterics.

“Hello, officers. The babies are inside,”She started but the officers stared at her.

“Mrs. Ferdinand, we’re going to have to take you to the station, and you’ll have to answer some questions about kidnapping the babies,”One officer spoke calmly, while the other reached out for his handcuffs.

“Excuse me?”Barbara was offended. “I didn’t kidnap those babies! They were almost on the road, and there was no one around! A car could’ve run them over! I saved them!”

The officers ignored Barbara because she was an hysterical woman who had just entered Barbara’s house and asked permission to see her babies.

“You have to listen to me, officers. I swear!” Barbara begged. “Please, listen to me.”

They finally heard her. They both shook their heads. “A woman near that road gave us your license plate – we ran it through the system to find this address – and said a man helped you put the babies in the car. Apparently, she also saw the mother, Mrs. Lucas, running behind your car. But you continued.”

“What? I had no idea. Sir, you have to believe me. I only fed and cared for them. I even changed their diapers, and they fell asleep. I was calling 911 when you guys showed up. Look at my phone,”Barbara said, and then returned to her home to retrieve her phone and show them.

The officers weren’t sure what to do, until the mother emerged with one baby in each of her arms. “Officers, I… I think she’s telling the truth. The babies are safe, and their diapers are fresh,”Barbara was visibly upset and racked eyes as she said it. “Thank you.”

Barbara was concerned for all involved. “What happened? Where were you? The babies were on the road,”She said it to her, trying not too harsh.

“I was on the phone, talking to my loser ex-husband, who doesn’t want to pay child support. I left my kids on a blanket near a tree, and I guess I got careless,”Mrs. Lucas explained that her babies are held closer to her chest by Mrs. Lucas. “I can’t believe they crawled all the way to the road.”

Barbara sighed. “Oh, dear. Well, babies learn to crawl and walk quickly. But even if they didn’t, you can’t get distracted. Someone might have actually kidnapped them. I’m glad I was there,”The older woman spoke up.

“I know now. It’ll never happen again. I’m so sorry,”She said, “More to her babies than anyone else.” “Thank you again.”

They didn’t know what to do but told the women that they would continue investigating and maybe CPS would be involved. Barbara said that it was unnecessary, but the cops insist.

Finally, they discovered CCTV footage that showed how Barbara saved the babies. After noticing that her babies had disappeared, Mrs. Lucas attempted to run behind the car. CPS visited her home and determined she was able to keep the babies.

Barbara reached out to Mrs. Lucas and made contact. The young woman accepted her offer to babysit. Barbara was happier than ever after caring for these babies.
