Will Metcalfe is a Legoland modelmaker. He hopes the Metcalfes can one day meet his miniature family.

“If possible we’d like to get them to come down, the royals, to come and have a look for themselves and actually meet themselves in Lego,”He said.

“I think that’d be quite fun for them!”

The Cambridges seek a life in country, away from Kensington Palace in west London. This is to ensure their children are first and allow them more freedom.

They were granted permission from Queen Elizabeth II to lease the four-bedroom cottage built in the 19th Century. It is part of the Crown Estate.

It was built in 1831 for Queen Adelaide and is just a 10 minute walk from Windsor Castle, a private Home Park.

They will be displayed outside Windsor Castle’s Lego brick creation, which has 39,000 pieces.

Paula Laughton (chief model maker at Legoland Windsor Resort) said: “The resort has always had a special connection with the royal family so to welcome our new neighbours, our talented model makers are giving the royals a brick-tastic housewarming present by recreating the family in miniature form.

“The Royal Removal scene will go on display throughout September, and we hope to welcome the duke and duchess and their family to the resort to see their figures very soon.”
