Luke Grimes Reveals Why Yellowstone is Misunderstood
According to Luke Grimes, who portrays Kayce Dutton on the show, categorizing “Yellowstone” as conservative based on its cowboy aesthetics is unfair. He believes that people often stereotype the characters in the show due to their appearances.
“I think a lot of people see a cowboy hat and a horse and they think, ‘Oh, that’s not for me, those people believe differently,'” he explained to The Independent. “And it’s almost like they take these flawed characters in the show and chalk it up to some sort of weird belief that they’ve put on them. Meanwhile, you can have a terrible person like [‘Succession’s’] Logan Roy, who lives in an apartment in Manhattan, and that’s fine.”
Defying Labels: Yellowstone’s Multifaceted Nature
“Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan expected the initial negative reviews due to the show’s unconventional storytelling approach. He likened “Yellowstone’s” storytelling to punk rock, focusing on different perspectives within a singular setting. Despite receiving criticism, the creators and cast members maintain that the show transcends simplistic political labels and offers a nuanced viewing experience.
