*WARNING: Spoilers ahead for House of the Dragon*

After Official Trailer for House of the Dragonwelcomed fans back to the world of Westeros with its first episode, the show’s second chapter saw the action heat up as tensions rose between the Targaryens.

Following his dramatic departure in episode 1, Daemon is back on the scene after stealing a dragon egg which catches the attention of the Small Council and enrages Rhaenyra as it was the same egg she placed in her would-be brother’s cradle.

It’s revealed that the egg belonged to a dragon named Dreamfyre, a beast we’ve yet to meet so far in House of the Dragon.

Daemon steals House of the Dragon’s dragon egg

The main point of conflict in episode 2 is sparked when the scheming Daemon Targaryen sends a letter to his brother revealing that he is to wed the prostitute Mysaria and has taken a dragon egg to place in the cradle of their unborn child – although Mysaria isn’t actually pregnant.

King Viserys responds by sending Otto Hightower, his Hand, to Daemon to retrieve the egg.

Rhaenyra finds out that the egg that she put in Baelon’s cradle died within hours of being born.

The stand-off between Otto, Daemon is very intense and nearly led to bloodshed. Rhaenyra was there to stop the bleeding.

Dreamfyre owns the egg

Prior to Rhaenyra’s journey to Dragonstone, she learns that the egg belonged to the dragon Dreamfyre.

This is a dragon we’ve yet to meet in House of the Dragon, but she is alive at the time of the series and is likely to appear later down the line.

Born decades before the events in the series, the blue-scaled Dreamfyre was first roded by Rhaena Tarrayen, the granddaughter Aegon Conqueror.

Following Rhaena’s death roughly 40 years prior to the events of House of the Dragon, Dreamfyre settled at the Dragonpit in King’s Landing until she bonded with a new rider after several decades, Princess Helaena Targaryen, the sister and wife of Aegon II – Rhaenyra’s half-brother whose arrival is teased in the Preview of Episode 3.

Theory: Dreamfyre could potentially be the mother of Daenerys’s three dragons

Throughout her life, Dreamfyre was known to have laid several clutches of eggs but three of those eggs were stolen by Rhaena’s lover, Elissa Farman, who took them across the Narrow Sea to Essos.

After travelling to Braavos, Elissa is said to have sold the eggs to the city’s Sealord and they were never seen again.

Elissa built her ship, the Sun Chaser with the money she made from selling dragon eggs. It was discovered in Asshai decades later.

It just so happens that Daenerys Targaryen’s three dragon eggs – which were presented to her by on her wedding day – were supposedly brought from the Shadow Lands beyond Assahai.

The origins of Daenerys’s eggs have never been confirmed in either the books or series, but the fact there are three of them and they were found near Elissa Farman’s last known location offers enough connective tissue to suggest they could well be Dreamfyre’s stolen eggs.

House of the Dragon airs weekly on HBO In the USA and on Sky After premiering in the UK on August 21st and 22, respectively,
