Who is Daemon Targaryen from House of the Dragon?

Who is Daemon Targaryen from House of the Dragon and what are his responsibilities?

House of the Dragon takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the tale of House of Targaryen’s gradual decline. It covers the events that led up to the Targaryen war of succession, as well as the event – Dance of the Dragons – itself.

Daemon Targaryen, a Targaryen dynasty prince and younger brother to King Viserys II Targaryen, is one of our protagonists.

He is a dragon rider and his dragon Caraxez, The Blood Wyrm, is his dragon.

Dameon is the grandson of Jaehaerys II Targaryen as well as the younger brother of King Viserys. His lineage makes Dameon the presumptive heir of the Iron Throne.

House of the Dragon is plagued by conflicts arising from the perception of Hand of the king Ser Otto Hightower as a major threat. After all, he mounts a powerful dragon and is a skilled warrior in possession of a Valyrian steel sword – Dark Sister – of his grandfather’s great aunt Visenya Targaryen and hails from a powerful family.

The role of the titular character is what makes this 39-year-old English actor still popular. Doctor WhoAnd he was the eleventh iteration of the iconic scifi character.

He has also starred in well-known films like Morbius He was MiloLast Night in Soho (Jack), His House (Mark Essworth), Official Secrets (Martin Bright), Charlie Says (Charles Manson), Terminator Genisys(Alex), Pride and Prejudice, and Zombies (Parson Collins).

He is also known as Prince Philip, Duke Edinburgh in the Netflix period drama series. The Crown.

‘He’s not violent just to be violent’

In a recent conversation, GQMatt shared his thoughts on Daemon and his outlook.

“I think there’s a sort of inner fragility to him that I was very interested in. Yes, I do think he is a man that sort of instinctually, naturally, is quite a violent person. But I think there’s a weird sense of morality, and it’s warped, but it is, nevertheless, a sense of morality to him. And sometimes he thinks he’s doing the right thing, however violent and obtuse his behavior may appear.”

He continued: “Often, in his head, he’s doing things for a good cause. So I guess what I’m saying is, to some level, it’s not just gratuitous violence. He’s not violent just to be violent. He’s violent because he thinks there is a purpose to it, generally speaking.”
