The year has seen a wide variety of horror films, including Nope Barbarian, Smile and Terrifier 2. Hellraiser, Pearl and many others. There’s more. However, there’s more to come for genre fans and those who have a taste for the supernatural won’t want to miss Prey For The Devil.
The American horror film was helmed by director Daniel Stamm, who is certainly no stranger to the possession sub-genre he’s navigating with his latest film.
He’s perhaps best known for 2010’s The Last Exorcism, while he also helmed the inventive horror 13 Sins in 2014.
Since then he’s worked on shows like Fear The Walking Dead, Into The Dark, and Them, but he’s finally returned to movies after eight years.
You won’t want to skip out on the occasion, so here’s where to watch Prey For The Devil and its release date.
Prey For The Devil: Where can I watch it? Release date
Prey For The Devil will be exclusively shown in cinemas starting Friday, October 28th 2022. This is just in time to make it a great Halloween movie trip.
That’s in both the US and the UK and you can now check for local showtimes and tickets on Fandango.
There has yet to be a Prey for the Devil streaming release date. Movies tend to arrive on streaming a few months following the theatrical window, so it’s likely that the film will be available to rent on the likes of iTunes and Amazon Video sometime in January 2023.
If you are determined to catch it, it will tell the story of the Catholic Chuch opening a series of exorcism schools in order to train priests how to deal the demonic phenomenon.
Sister Ann, a nun who is forbidden from performing them, is allowed to do so after a professor discovers her talent and decides to train her.
‘Conflict is the fuel of all drama’
Daniel spoke recently with Bloody DisgustingAbout what gives his film the edge in this sub-genre:
“What I’m always searching for first when reading a new script are the points of conflict the story is built on. Conflict is the fuel of all drama, all suspense, all tension; to keep an audience’s interest over the length of a feature film, you need an incredible amount of fuel to burn.”
He explained: “A story about a male exorcist has one point of conflict: church vs. demon. But a female exorcist needs to fight the demon AND the church to whose doctrine she poses a much bigger threat than the devil himself does.”
