Jerry Falwell Jr. is a fundamentalist Christian, and the son of Rev Jerry Falwell Sr., a well-known Baptist preacher.

He spoke out in support of his religion during a Vanity FairArticle describing Falwell’s rise and fall in the wake of a 2020 scandal which claimed that his wife Becki had an affair with their ex-pool boy in Florida.

Falwell resigned from his position at Liberty University and was speaking out in the exposé to address the allegations against him which he vehemently denies.

Falwell, who claimed he is a Christian and a devout Christian, took to social media after the article had been published.

“While I didn’t wear my religion on my sleeve to be seen by others, I have nonetheless had a strong faith in Christ and his teachings since college,” Falwell wrote.

He continued: “While I am far from perfect, let me be clear: I believe Jesus was born of a virgin. I believe in the Deity of Christ as the only Son of God.”

Falwell spoke about the church that his father used to own and preach at. It was passed on to Jonathan after his father’s death.

“I love [Thomas Road Baptist] and its people with all my heart along with its theme under my Dad’s and brother’s leadership ‘to love God and love people!'” Falwell wrote.

Falwell did not appear to disengage himself from his faith, as a fundamentalist Christian, when he became involved in politics prior to the 2016 presidential elections.

Falwell’s support for Donald Trump in his bid for presidency revealed that he had changed from a separatist belief where God has all the power to a new belief that individual actions are necessary to fulfill God’s will.
