The government has created a system to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test.

However, there are different rules depending on the purpose of the device.

You can also use the NHS COVID Pass for domestic events within the UK, although there are slightly different requirements.

An NHS COVID pass can be obtained for domestic use if you:

  • You are older than 18
  • It’s been two weeks since you had your second vaccine dose
  • In the last 48 hours, you have had a negative PCR (or lateral flow test)
  • A positive Covid PCR test has been performed within the last six months (proof required).

How can you obtain a Covid-status certification?

There are several ways to get your NHS Covid Pass.

Digital

Access your NHS Covid Pass via the free NHS App, available on your smartphone, tablet or online at the NHS website.

For your certificate to be issued, details like your email address and postal code will be required.

Print your paper at home

If you don’t want your certificate in a digital format, you can also have it on paper.

To print it yourself, you’ll need to register for an NHS login if you do not have one already, which may take some time to process.

Once you have logged in, you can see your Covid status and download it as a pdf document.

The barcode will be found in the document. You can download your Covid Pass PDF as an attachment. It only lasts 30 days.

It’s the NHS Covid Pass letter.

This option is only for those who have had both their vaccine doses. It’s not available to anyone travelling abroad or using the vaccine domestically.

How do I get proof that a test is negative?

While some activities require proof of a negative test viaPCR, others simply need lateral flow.
