What does the Circle K partnership and Green Thumb Industries mean for Florida weed smokers?

Green Thumb IndustriesThe major player in cannabis retail has partnered with a convenience store brand Circle KTo sell marijuana licensed at its Florida gas stations Bloomberg reports.

Customers will have the option to select from a variety of cannabis products such as pre-rolls, flower (smokable marijuana buds), gummies, vapes, and vaporizers.

Federal law currently makes marijuana illegal in Florida. Medical marijuana is legal in Florida since 2016, after a referendum.

If you are able to prove to your doctor that you have one or more of these conditions, and have exhausted all other options, you can submit an application for a medical marijuana card.

You can legally purchase marijuana with the card if your application is accepted.

The approved conditions are limited to: ALS, anxiety, anorexia, arthritis, cancer, epilepsy, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, PTSD, Crohn’s disease, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis (MS) and “other debilitating medical conditions of the same kind or class”According to state law

Green Thumb Industries will be selling weed products at Circle K gas stations when?

The partnership between Green Thumb Industries and Circle K will begin next year (2023) with 10 of Circle K’s Florida locations.

It has 600 stores currently in the state. But, at these 10 spots dispensaries called RISE express will open adjacent to existing convenience stores. RISE Express dispensaries have their own entrances to the gas station.

Ben Kovler, CEO of Green Thumb, said in an interview Statement: “The opening of RISE Express stores at Circle K locations is a game-changer. Convenience is a strong channel in retail, and people want more access to cannabis.”

This could mean that marijuana is now mainstream.

Bloomberg reports that this deal is the first of its kind. Before this deal, legal marijuana could only be sold in standalone US dispensaries.
