After episode 6 focused solely on the Battle of the Southlands, The Rings of Power’s seventh chapter brought attention back to Nori, the Harfoots and the mysterious Stranger.

The Brandyfoots, despite fears of being left behind, manage to catch up with Harfoots at their grove, an apple orchard that supplies plenty of food for the entire clan.

Their arrival this year was met with destruction by Mount Doom’s recent eruption, which has poured fiery rocks into the grove, killing the apple trees.

Sadoc asks the Stranger for help to fix the burned-out trees in an attempt to right the wrongs.

The Stranger can also be heard chanting spells in Quenya’s Elven language during the scene.

He uses the phrases “Á keuta,” “Envinyata,” “Lótë,”And “Á kuita” – here’s what they mean according to Parf Edhellen’s Elvish Dictionary.

  1. Á keuta | Restore, renew, refresh
  2. Á envinyata | Heal
  3. Lótë | Flower
  4. Á kuita | Live

The “Á” at the beginning of the words serves as an imperative particle, making the phrases an instruction as part of the Stranger’s spell.

This simply means that the Stranger tells the tree (also known as a flower), to heal and restore the Harfoots so they can collect the food they need.

Who are these people looking for the Strangers?

As well as the Stranger’s mysterious use of magic, another puzzle has been building around him in relation to the three white-cloaked individuals who have been following him.

They are known as the Mystics and supposedly hail from the eastern land of Rhûn but have travelled west to pursue the Stranger.

We don’t know much about the trio or their motivations, but we do know that their names are the Dweller (the Nomad), and the Ascetic (the Ascetic).
