After their respective pandemic closures the Disney Parks were only a fraction of what they had been before their reopening. Although most of the attractions and immersive environments were still intact, there was a lot missing. All events that were likely to draw large crowds were excluded from the reopening. Fortunately, most of these items have been restored over time, including the character meet-and greets and fireworks shows. Soon parades will also be coming back to Walt Disney World, but somehow, we’re still waiting on Disneyland.
Walt Disney World announced yesterday that a daytime parade will soon return to Magic Kingdom. It’s part of a lot of live entertainment set to Disney World will open in 2022. It’s wonderful to see, but honestly, seeing the return of an updated Festival of Fantasy parade, as cool as it is, just reminds us of the excellent Disneyland parade that was barely given a chance to debut, and is still missing in action., Magic Happens.
Magic Happens began at Disneyland Park at the end February 2020. It was there for about two weeks before the Disneyland Resort was closed. It was, in all assessments, an excellent parade Amazing floats, fun characters we don’t often get to seeAnd an absolutely Banging sound. Jordan Peterson was passionate about the project. Disney history infused. This show deserves more love.
Although parades were previously present at Disneyland and Disney World, they had not been there before. Part of special ticketed event that limited the capacity of the parks; they weren’t available to everybody who bought a regular park ticket. Everybody who enters Magic Kingdom will see the Festival of Fantasy, which is the first parade in a domestic Disney Park.
One certainly hopes that when Disneyland is ready to do the same, and it needs to be soon, we’ll see the return of Magic Happens. The parade was rarely given the chance to be seen and we must be cautious about not seeing it again. Even considering all the money that was invested to make Magic Happens happen, it is possible to reach a point where someone in authority feels it would be easier just to move on.
This would be a horrible decision. We must see Magic Happens return, and hopefully soon. We know that Disneyland Resort will be hosting a parade at some point in the year. Main Street Electrical Parade is now officially confirmedIn 2022, they will be back. If it’s time for parades to come back for the masses at Disney World, then it’s probably time at Disneyland. It’s time for Magic Happens.
