Former President Donald Trump’s decision to invite investigators back into his Mar-a-Lago estate is a befuddling one – and it’s a sign of desperation, according to George Conway.
“He’s a desperate man, and he’s getting more and more desperate, and I think we’re going to see that over the coming months,”Conway stated that Trump will likely run for the presidency by 2024. “in effect, for protection against these legal proceedings.”
The conservative lawyer, former Trump ally and estranged husband to Kellyanne Conway joined CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Wednesday night alongside former Trump administration official Alyssa Farah Griffin to discuss the latest development indicating that the former president knew that the voter fraud numbers he’s long alleged in Georgia were false, as seen in a federal judge’s recent order to turn over eight new documents.
“One email in particular shows how Trump was made aware that the fraud numbers he submitted in state and federal court were false,” CNN reported, “but even after he was made aware, he submitted those fake numbers to the court anyway.”
Conway and Farah Griffin agreed that with allegations of making efforts to defraud the United States and of felony obstruction, the twice-impeached former president feels the pressure and the walls are closing in – which has led him to pull such stunts as inviting investigators back into Mar-a-Lago as a distraction.
“It kind of reeks of desperation,” Farah Griffin said. “I think that he’s in a place where he feels cornered in various different investigations. Even today, he was sitting down for, responding to allegations related to sexual assault allegations from over a decade ago. This man is cornered at every turn, and he’s not surrounded by wise legal council, so I think you’re going to see further acts of desperation from him.”
“I agree with Alyssa: He’s a desperate man, and he’s getting more and more desperate, and I think we’re going to see that over the coming months,”Conway spoke. “And I think it’s going to force his hand … He will run for president, in effect, for protection against these legal proceedings, but they’re just going to be too many of them and I think we’re going to see the, you know, I think he might get the nomination anyway, but I think we’re going to see the meltdown to end all meltdowns of a public figure.”
