Video ASL Music: “We don’t talk about Bruno”

Disney and Deaf West Theatre celebrated International Day of Sign Languages through a new music clip “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,”The hit track from “Encanto.”

Featuring both American Sign Language (ASL) and Colombian Sign Language (LSC, Lengua de Señas Colombiana), the video plays the scene from the film next to an all-Deaf Colombian and Latinx cast of translators. Nataly Barahona plays Pepa, Andres Olalora portrays Felix, Donna Valverde portrays Mirabel, Abuela and Jasmine Garcia play Isabela, Joseph Rocha portrays Camilo, and Andrea Rodriguez portrays Dolores.

A press release states that the lyrics to the English song were translated into ASL/LSC using a team Sign Language Choirs. The group worked through the text in order to produce the best and most accurate translation. ASL Choreographers were Donna Valverde, Nataly Barahona, and Austin Balaich.

Los Angeles–based, Tony Award–winning company Deaf West had previously partnered with Disney on an ASL video for another “Encanto” track, “Surface Pressure,”You can also find other videos from World Princess Week.

“Encanto”The 94th Academy Awards Best Animated Feature was awarded. Two other nominations were received. The R.I.A.A. The platinum-certified soundtrack was at No. The No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 Album Chart occupied for nine weeks non-consecutive, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”The song was Platinum-certified three more times, and it topped the Hot 100 chart for five consecutive weeks. The song and soundtrack remained at the top of the charts for five weeks. The song and the soundtrack remained at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 & Hot 100 for five weeks consecutively.
