Unlock the Secret of the Iconic PlayStation Game from 1999 and Cash in on Its $500 Value with This Simple Trick

Is Your Old Video Game Worth a Fortune? The Tony Hawk Classic Could Net You Thousands!

A PLAYSTATION classic from the late nineties is worth hundreds – and potentially even thousands – of dollars.

The Tony Hawk title is one of the best-loved video games of all time, so collectors will pay top dollar for a copy.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was released for the Sony PlayStation on September 29, 1999. The critically acclaimed title is still loved by gamers and holds a very high 92/100 score on Metacritic for the PlayStation release.

The Value of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Games

If you still have a sealed copy of the game then it could go for as much as $503.64 at auction, according to PriceCharting.com. But the value can go even higher still. If you happen to have had your sealed copy professionally graded, it could be worth a mammoth $5,760.

Sadly the price drops very quickly for used copies of the game. A complete-in-box version will net you just $17.49 according to estimates, while the loose disc is valued at just $7.70. The box is said to be worth a measly $6.99, and the manual an even lower $6.

If you decide that you want to sell your copy of the game, you might find you receive offers that are higher or lower than these values. These are estimates based on previous sales of the game so you may have a different experience.

The Legacy of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater debuted in late 1999 and let gamers control pro skateboarders in 3D environments built for maximum shredding. Players would perform elaborate tricks to rack up a high score and the maps also featured collectibles, encouraging players to return over and over to grab all of the secrets.

The game featured skateboarding legends like Bob Burnquist, Chad Muska, Bucky Lasek, and Tony Hawk himself, and it also featured a punk-heavy soundtrack that was loved by reviewers.

The game landed to critical acclaim and more than 350,000 copies were sold by the end of 1999. By 2001, more than 3.5 million copies had been sold, and the game spawned a highly successful franchise that led to at least 20 games across a huge range of platforms.

Pro Skater 5 came out in 2015 on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and remastered versions of Pro Skater 1 and 2 were released as a single title for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2020.

The Future of the Pro Skater Franchise?

Sadly there is no news about a potential Pro Skater 6. But the legacy of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game series lives on, and if you were a fan or a collector, you may find yourself in possession of a highly valuable piece of video game history.
