On February 21, 2024, Apple unveiled its new Apple Sports app, designed to provide sports enthusiasts with real-time stats and scores on their favorite sports teams. Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services, expressed in a statement that Apple Sports was created to give sports fans “an app that delivers incredibly fast access to scores and stats.” At its launch, the app includes certain leagues such as MLB, NFL, WNBA, and more leagues are expected to be added in the future.

How do I use the Apple Sports app?

Once the app is downloaded, fans can select their favorite leagues and teams. After making their selections, the app will display their team’s scheduled matchups and results. Additionally, fans can swipe left to review previous results and a full summary from the day prior in card format. Users can scroll through the matchups to read further information on the games and view their team’s box scores and play-by-play. Swiping right allows users to view upcoming games.

How can I get the Apple Sports app?

The Apple Sports app is available for free download on the App Store in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. iPhone users need to have iOS 17.2 or later installed to use the app and currently, there are no ads on it. Apple has also confirmed the app is scheduled to “seamlessly sync with favorites selected within the My Sports experience including in the Apple TV app and Apple News.”
