Uncover the Terrifying ‘Carnivorous Snake’ Dynamics of AI Minions Eating Themselves in a Deterioration Nightmare

AI Expert Predicts the Fall of Generative AI Bots—Why You Should Care

AN artificial intelligence expert has warned that we’re about to witness the fall of AI minions. Professor Marek Kowalkiewicz revealed his concerns at South by Southwest 2024 in Austin, Texas.

The Rise and Fall of Generative AI: A Closer Look

“We’re about to witness the bots*** avalanche,” he warned. The expert used the term bots*** as a play on words for a common derogatory phrase. He explains that this AI avalanche will come because some bots creating content on the internet are slowly deteriorating.

The Deterioration of AI Bots and Its Consequences

AI algorithms like those used by ChatGPT models learn from content on the internet. As AI produces more content that’s on the internet, Kowalkiewicz warned that bots will start learning from themselves. He described this as the bots eating themselves like a carnivorous and confused snake.

Feedback on Generative AI Models: A Look into the Decline

“There’s a lot of people that say it’s [generative AI] not that good anymore,” he told a small audience. Even OpenAI has previously admitted that ChatGPT was acting lazier than usual. “We’ve heard all your feedback about GPT4 getting lazier!” the company wrote on X last December. “We haven’t updated the model since Nov 11th, and this certainly isn’t intentional. model behavior can be unpredictable, and we’re looking into fixing it.”

The Downfall of Generative AI: What to Expect

Kowalkiewicz added that generative AI is “eating its own tail” by “consuming its own content.” The expert expects a downfall of AI bots will happen in the next few years. He suspects that generative AI models will run out of fresh content to learn from in this time period and start consuming nonsense.

The Impact of AI Deterioration on Online Information and Trust

Kowalkiewicz gave the example of bogus Google Search results that are already appearing due to misinformation in AI content. An AI avalanche like this could have a negative impact on the information we consume and how well we trust online content. The expert explores this idea further in his new book The Economy of Algorithms: AI and the Rise of the Digital Minions.
