A SPIRITUAL energy is said to ooze out of the red rocks in one desert town, and a writer and outdoorsman stumbled upon one of the magical vortex sites during a recent hike. Sedona, Arizona, is said to be a hub for spiritual vortexes, an invisible but noticeable energy often associated with geographical sites and large red rock formations.
Discovering Sedona’s Spiritual Energy Vortexes
Visit Sedona describes these balls of energy as being “conducive to healing, medication, and self-exploration,” claiming visitors often feel inspired or uplifted after encountering one. While the small desert city has been dubbed the “most popular hidden gem” in the US in 2023, the vortexes have made Sedona a popular tourist attraction among those a part of the New Age movement, astrologists, and other spiritually inclined individuals seeking to feel the “crackling” energy.
Will Brandza’s Encounter with Sedona’s Spiritual Vortexes
However, it isn’t always easy to encounter one of these energy vortexes, according to Will Brendza, a writer and outdoorsman based in Colorado. In March, Brendza revealed he had traveled to the region for a work trip with Columbia Sportswear and wasn’t expecting to encounter any spiritual energy.
Connecting with Nature and the Spiritual Realm
Brendza went on to say that during the hike, their guide urged the group to use nature as a “prescription,” and figure out exactly what they wanted to get out of it. The guide reportedly told the hikers that they should “go somewhere high up to get a clear perspective” when seeking answers about relationships, think about family and friends, or even when wrestling with memories or something difficult that happened years before.
Finding Resonance in the Red Rocks
Brendza admitted that he may have felt some energy in that moment when the guide was talking. “To be fair, in that moment maybe I did feel something,” he said. “And maybe you could call it a Sedona ‘Vortex.’ I’d probably call it resonance, though. ‘The Prescription of Nature’ had a nice ring to it. It touched on something I’d experienced and hadn’t been able to coherently vocalize myself.
Reflecting on Sedona’s Majesty and Spiritual Significance
Throughout the hike in Sedona, Brendza also wrote that he now understood why the towering cliffs, iconic rock formations, and lush landscape could act as a church for some vortex seekers. “When you’re surrounded by towering petrified sand dunes, pillars of Entrada sandstone, and slickrock that seems to melt before your eyes, the greatest manmade temples in the world pale in comparison,” he said. “Add a little crackling Vortex energy to a place like that and who’d ever need to go indoors to worship?”
Encountering Sedona’s Mystical Energy Vortexes
How people encounter an energy vortex or experience the red socks in Sedona is such an individual experience, Brendza emphasized. During his visit, the writer said he was able to make out animal shapes, food, plates, bowls, and human figures in the iconic formations. But Brendza urged others to travel through the canyons to experience the wonders themselves. “The longer you spend looking, the more you’ll discern in the Sedona rock,” he said. “And perhaps, the more you’ll discern about yourself.”
