UK airline expands summer flight routes to three islands – Don’t miss out on the adventure!

Loganair Expands Services on Three Routes from London Heathrow

A SCOTTISH airline is launching more services on three of its routes.

Loganair has confirmed that it will be increasing the frequency of flights between London Heathrow and three UK islands.

The Increased Frequency of Flights

The number of flights from London Heathrow to Shetland, Orkney and the Isle of Man are set to increase.

From March 31, 2024, the airline will introduce a third weekly service to Sumburgh in the Shetland Islands.

Flights will depart from London Heathrow’s Terminal 2 at 9.45am, arriving in Sumburgh at 1.30pm.

An additional Saturday service will also operate between London Heathrow and the Isle of Man.

The direct service will take just one hour and 25 minutes, with a scheduled departure time of 2.45pm.

From this March, the airline is also set to bring back its route from London Heathrow to Kirkwall, Orkney, with flights scheduled to take just under three hours and 30 minutes.

Loganair CCO, Luke Lovegrove, said: “Our routes to Heathrow have gone from strength to strength since we started our services from T2 last April and, with both the Elizabeth Line and Heathrow Express rapid connections linking Heathrow with central London, the improvements to flight times assure a full working day in London.”

“We continue to fly to and from some of the most remote destinations in the country, and this summer will provide unrivalled regional connectivity for these areas, led by customer demand,” he added.”

New Routes and Expansion

Another Orkney route from London City Airport was introduced by the Scottish airline last year.

Loganair isn’t the only airline launching a new route this year.

Earlier this year, Jet2 confirmed that a new route will operate between Manchester Airport and Porto.

Meanwhile, British Airways will be resuming flights from London Stansted for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.

The flag carrier has confirmed three new routes will depart from the London airport, with prices starting at £36 for a one-way ticket.

Budget airline Ryanair is launching flights to Spain, Portugal, and Malta, from Norwich Airport.

As it stands, the airport only serves a handful of foreign destinations, which means the Ryanair expansion is great news for holidaymakers in East Anglia.

The flights will run on both Mondays and Fridays, according to the aviation website Simple Flying.

Ryanair is also launching flights from Cornwall Airport and Cardiff Airport, with new routes to Paris and Faro among some of those announced.
