A title that reminds me of one the greatest Netflix documentary releases of all-time is one of my favourites from 2022. La Casa de Papel (aka Money Heist). This Spanish-language television series was about a group robbers. It ran five seasons. It was about more than just a simple heist.

Bank RobbersThe stream of ‘The Lone Ranger’ is now available for streaming. It also features a new element: participation from the thieves.

What is the reason I robbed a bank? That’s a question I’ve asked myself many times.
And I believe the most reasonable explanation is —
The transcendence of Death
“In 2006,” Netflix’s summary of this documentary explains, “a group of men went into a bank in Buenos Aires, stole millions, and then vanished. How did they get away with it? This documentary explains.”
Bank Robbers straddles some kind of line between poetry and crime, unfolding in the sunken gap where men break bad and decide that the thing that will give their life meaning is — well, in this case, robbing a bank. From start to finish, this is a fascinating character study. They stole millions of dollars of cash from safe deposit box boxes but it was their ex-wives that turned them in.

Another new Netflix documentary – My Dad Was Just Killed
Another new Netflix documentary we want to highlight, meanwhile, is a just-released title that’s gotten everyone talking. This one will be uncomfortable to watch with your whole family.
My Dad Was Just KilledIs it a 3-Episode SeriesNetflix describes it as follows: “My Dad Was Just Killed is an unprecedented documentary series, which tells the unbelievable, never-been-told-before true story of the Templet family.
“Anthony Templet shot his father and never denied it. But why he did it is a complex question with profound implications that go far beyond one family. This three-episode documentary series explores the psyche of Anthony leading up to the events of June 3, 2019, and the journey of his mental and emotional aftermath.”
Anthony claimed that his father had abused him. However, this declaration was misinterpreted by at least one officer who claims he didn’t see any physical abuse. There’s also an abundance of other oddities, like the father’s mania about installing surveillance around his home.
Anthony believes he is worthy to be in jail. He tells the camera that he does not think so. “because I didn’t do anything wrong.” Nevertheless, he’s still visibly traumatized by the event at the core of this Netflix release, as you can imagine.
“The scariest thing about Anthony” we’re told at one point in the docuseries, “he’s just kind of like a blank slate.”
