Twitter’s Elon Musk is facing a lawsuit for mass layoffs. He plans to fire half of his workforce.

TWITTER was sued by Elon Musk over plans to lay off half its workforce.

The lawsuit was filed in a San Francisco court – just days after the Tesla mogulThe $44 billion takeover was completed.

Twitter employs approximately 7,500 people, so it’s possible that up to 3,700 employees could be laid off.

Staffers are claiming that they’ve not been given enough notice – which they say is in violation of state and federal law, according to Bloomberg.

In an email received byThe Washington PostLayoffs will begin immediately.

It said: “Team, In an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday.

“We recognize that this will impact a number of individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is, unfortunately, necessary to ensure the company’s success moving forward.”

According to a number of workers, they claim that their email and Slack accounts have been blocked. The Telegraph

An employee who has not been identified told CNBC: “It’s total chaos, house melting down, everyone looking towards this email.”

A second staffer, however, said: “At the end of this nightmare, I better get a cash prize.”

It comes after Musk reportedly took away workers’ once-a-month day of rest.

According to the report, the company’s monthly day off during the pandemic is now under threat.

Since becoming CEO of the social networking giant, the billionaire has made numerous changes.

He also plans on removing Twitter’s remote working policy.

He needs staff he doesn’t have to culled in the offices full-time to implement the many changes he has for this site.

Musk closed the deal to acquire the social media giant on October 27,

He tweeted the following to announce the closing of the deal: “The bird is freed.”

But, the company’s former CEO Parag Agrawal and CFO Ned Segal were fired.

Insiders also claimed that Musk fired Vijaya Gadde, the head of legal trust and safety, and Sean Edgett. They belonged to the company’s general attorney.The Washington Post.

Even his bio was changed to reflect this. “Chief Twit” before later describing himself as “Twitter Complaint Hotline Operator”.

Musk explained previously why he wanted Twitter to become his company.

He stated that Twitter was acquired because it was important for the future of civilization to have one common digital square where diverse beliefs can be discussed in a healthy way, without resorting violence.
