The Port of Dover, Kent was also packed with travellers who waited outside of their cars in hot weather to join the long queues.

Experts advised Brits against traveling Monday and Tuesday due to extreme heat.

Network Rail indicated that trains will be delayed and cancelled most likely.

Dr Agostinho Sousa, Head of Extreme Events and Health Protection at UKHSA, said: “It’s important we all know how to stay well in hot weather.

“Check up on vulnerable friends, family and neighbours to make sure they stay hydrated, keep cool and know how to keep their homes cool.”
