Towie’s Charlie King reveals body image ‘despair’ as 8 in 10 social media users ‘unhappy with their looks’

EX-TOWIE star Charlie King yesterday told of his body image torment — as a survey revealed eight in ten social media users are unhappy with their looks.

The reality TV celeb told health committee MPs he was left in the “depths of despair” after a botched nose job and struggled with body dysmorphia.

And he said young children should be taught early on not to believe pictures and lifestyles they see online on sites such as Instagram.

Charlie, 36, who left The Only Way is Essex in 2017, said: “The amount of times you see someone and they’ve been altered — you don’t really know what’s real any more.

“If we look at the Kardashian lifestyle, it’s that aspirational world where you can make loads of money and look fantastic.

“But we need to get real — that’s a unique situation the average person will never get to.”

It came as a poll of 1,544 social media users by the health committee revealed that 80 per cent say the way they look is damaging their mental health.

And 71 per cent said their body image led to them enjoying life less.
