The new Apple TV Plus trailer is the talk of the town

How much can a few months of preparation make a big difference. Earlier this year, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars, picked up a Best Actor trophy, got himself banned from attending the awards ceremony for 10 years — and now he’s back, in a just-released new trailer for his next highly-anticipated movie (the Apple TV Plus original Emancipation). A movie that Tim Cook, the CEO of the tech company, has decided to release in December despite the cloud hanging over Smith.

Following reports that Apple was close to pushing the movie into 2023, Apple made Monday’s announcement. Apple appears to have had enough time since the Slap Heard ‘Round The World, such that it’We are now ready to step into the breach, dear friends. EmancipationOut on the streets in time to witness the 2023 Oscars ceremony.

The announcement: EmancipationApple TV Plus will officially launch on December 9, just one week after the movie has completed a limited theatrical run, which began on December 2.

Emancipation tells the triumphant story of Peter (Smith), a man who escapes from slavery, relying on his wits, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family to evade cold-blooded hunters and the unforgiving swamps of Louisiana on his quest for freedom. The film is inspired by the 1863 photos of “Whipped Peter,”It was taken as part of a Union Army medical exam. Harper’s Weekly.”

As you can see, the trailer’s release on Monday attracted a lot of buzz online for the film which was executive produced and directed by Antoine Fuqua.

The announcement of the movie’s release was also made following an advance screening of Emancipation hosted in conjunction with the NAACP during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 51st Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. At the conference, Fuqua, Smith, and Mary Elliott (curator of American Slavery at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture) participated in a conversation moderated by commentator Angela Rye.
