The first trailer for Amazon’s Lord of the Rings is now available

Amazon shared its first full-length trailer Lord of the RingsThursday’s prequel series. Although we have seen some snippets before, even in Super Bowl commercials, this is the best one to date. Unsurprisingly, The Lord of the Rings – The Rings of Power looks like Prime Video’s most expensive production ever. The team has painstakingly recreated Middle-earth, giving the series the same epic scale as Peter Jackson’s award-winning movies.

You won’t recognize any of the cast from the movie trilogy, but some of the characters have returned. Notably, we see younger versions (Morfydd Campbell) and Elronds (Robert Aramayo), engaged in heated conversations halfway through the trailer. Isildur (Maxim Baldry), also appears. Remember, elves are immortal in Tolkien’s world.

What is it and when will it appear?

Amazon is not very specific about the details of its products. The Rings of Power. Prime Video shared this long synopsis on Thursday.

Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama was set thousands of year before J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. The series begins in relative peace and follows a group of familiar characters as they face the long-feared return of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

The first season will have eight episodes, although early reports suggested that it could have as many as 20. Amazon has apparently committed to five seasons. The Lord of the Rings – The Rings of PowerPrime Video will debut the video on September 2, 2022.
