The End of ‘The Simpsons” is Near and the Showrunner knows how it will end

Since 1983 “The Simpsons” has been a Sunday night staple on Fox and now, its showrunner has come out to say he knows how the long-running animated comedy will end, according to The Wrap.

A recent interview was conducted with Radio TimesAl Jean, showrunner, stated that he would like to tie the conclusion of the series back to its 1989 premiere episode.

The title of “The Simpsons”Pilot was his name “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire,” and that is the link, Jean said.

“I said that there would be an end where they go back to the Christmas pageant from episode one. This would ensure that the entire series is continuous.” he said. “This is how I would close it if I had the choice.”

However, don’t get too alarmed at the notion of Homer, Bart, Maggie, Marge and Lisa saying goodbye, as Jean doesn’t see “The Simpsons” ending anytime soon.

“Although the talk of an end is tempting, especially since Disney+ is doing so well in the U.S. and U.K., I don’t think anyone will be saying, “Let’s wrap this up or figure how to get out” at the moment,” he stated.

The network has renewed the show until 2023 and they have reached 700 episodes this season. Jean spoke out to Radio Times about his desire to hit 1,000 episodes for the series.

“I calculated that if we make it to 1,000 episodes, that’s 12 more seasons… So I’ll just be saying, I’ll be very happy to be here in 12 seasons’ time … [but] it’s not just a hop, skip and a jump, it’s a little further than that,”He stated.
