The Bride and a Fellow Nurse Save a Man in a Heart Attack

A Massachusetts bride and some of her guests intervened to save the life of a man who had suffered a severe heart attack.

When Micaela Johnson suddenly collapsed, everyone was dancing at her wedding.

“We’re at a wedding and we think someone’s had a heart attack,”One 911 caller stated.

“We’re at a wedding. We just had somebody go down on the floor,”Another 911 caller was reported.

Johnson stated that Johnson realized something was wrong after someone started screaming for the band’s to stop playing their music

“When I turned around, I had seen this person on the ground,”She said.

Amazingly, the bride is a registered nurse in the emergency room and many of her guests were also nurses. They were quick to respond and treated the man in need on the dancefloor.

“He wasn’t the right color, he wasn’t breathing properly, and so they went in and did a quick assessment and started doing CPR on him,”She said.

Johnson and five guests all work at the prestigious Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

“This was very like spur of the moment, everybody just kind of jumped in,”One nurse said.

The guest suffered from what is known as a widow-maker, which is a severe form of heart attack, often fatal.

The nurses applied a defibrillator to the victim’s chest.

“It seemed like a very long time that we were working on him and doing CPR and getting shocked,”One nurse said.

The team kept the guest alive until help arrived. They found out that he was awake and talking to the ambulance.

“He probably wouldn’t be alive today, honestly, if it didn’t happen at my wedding,”Johnson said.
