Terrifier 2: The ending and post credits scene

There has been a lot of talk about Terrifier 2, that’s for sure. The sequel for 2022 has been described less as a theatrical experience than it is an endurance test. Even those who are not avid fans of the genre argue that the violence has been increased to its climax.

This means that many horror fans will consider it a must see.

Directed by Damien Leone, it serves as a sequel to his 2016 film Terrifier, which has gradually been championed by some as a new benchmark in horror, with Art the Clown possessing the potential to become an icon in the same vein as Friday The 13th’s Jason Voorhees.

It is becoming increasingly popular that the sequel is being seen by more people. This is prompting a lot of discussion. So, let’s get the Terrifier 2 ending explained.

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS

Terrifier 2 ending explained

Terrifier 2’s final act, Sienna transforms into the heroic character her father imagined for her as a child. He used to tell stories about fictional bravery, and dressed up as the character Sienna eventually channels to channel the winning qualities needed to survive her encounter against Art the Clown.

Although stabbed by a sword and plunged into a water tank, she’s able to pull free from the grasp of mysterious hands below and rise back to the surface. It’s uncertain whether this sequence suggests Sienna now harnesses a supernatural quality similar to Art, but sequels will likely develop Sienna’s character further.

After an almost fatal encounter, Sienna saves Art’s brother and chops off his head. However, it’s not over yet.

Art’s clown companion – credited as The Little Pale Girl – arrives on the scene to retrieve Art’s head and is sure to bring him back in a potential third installment.

Speaking of which, there’s a mid-credits scene that sets up just that and confirms that Art survived his violent beheading at the hands of Sienna.

Terrifier 2 post-credits scene explained

The Terrifier 2 Mid-credits Scene reunites us to Victoria Heyes from the first movie, who is shown in this second discussing her struggle with Art on a talk-show.

As we have seen, she actually attacked the talk show host in a violent outburst and we learn that she’s now been whisked away to a psychiatric hospital, under surveillance after succumbing to dark impulses brought about by trauma and perhaps something sinister.

Although she’s initially calm, the sequence then shows her crying out in pain and her stomach begins to grow.

In a shocking moment, she then gives birth to none other than the head of Art the Clown, signaling the character’s rebirth after Sienna seemed to strike a fatal blow.

Art, too, is Alive!

Along with The Little Pale Girl – Jonathan’s research reveals that she was Art’s first victim – it’s heavily implied that Art is able to use and manipulate his own victims for a range of bizarre and surreal means, as both she and Victoria ensure his survival in the sequel’s final act.

‘The fun of the hunt and the kill’

David Howard Thornton, the Art actor, recently spoke to ScreenrantHe shared his thoughts about why the clown does what he does, and he was open to them.

“I think what drives him is just the fun of the hunt and the kill. I think the cat lady in the first film summed them up very nicely where she’s like, ‘He does this because he thinks it’s funny.’ This is pure entertainment to him. He is like the anti-clown.”

He continued: “Where clowns are supposed to be here to amuse us and bring joy and merriment to us, Art is here to bring pain and misery to other people for his own selfish amusement, and that’s what drives him. He just has fun killing.”
