Luhrmann was known for making several modern additions to the story of Romeo, Juliet, such as guns, and sports cars. However, his film stays faithful to Shakespeare’s text, including Elizabethan dialogue. This allows the film to be as intense as any production of the tragedy on the screen 25 years later.
Luhrmann and his crew also created one of the most memorable pop soundtracks in cinematic film history.
