Stephen C. Grossman is a producer who has worked in the entertainment business for 35 years. He was also the coordinating producer for eight episodes of the comedy show. Newhart,He has passed away. His family confirmed that he died on Wednesday due to coronavirus complications. He was 76 years of age.
Grossman’s 35 years in the entertainment industry began in the late 1960s, when acting aspirations brought him to New York City from his home in Silver Spring, Maryland. He studied understudy at Broadway, managed the Circle in the Square Theatre and worked for Gil Cates, a director.
Grossman, his newborn daughter and wife were brought to Hollywood by a job offer in 1977. Mary Tyler Moore Enterprises was one of the most active producers in television. Additionally, Newhart,Grossman was involved with post-production and production of many series and pilots, including Mary’s Betty White Show AndThe Mary Tyler Moore Comedy Hour.
Grossman, who left MTM in 90, was involved with many production companies, including Warner Bros. TV, Paramount TV and Disney; Turner TV. Spelling Prods. NBC Prods. Carsey Werner Co. Steven Bocho Prods. & CBS Prods.
In the early 21st centurystCentury, Grossman was copresident of the American Association of Producers. He was instrumental in the merger of that group with the Producer’s Guild of America, which at the time doubled its size to about 1,000 members. “It came at a time of huge transition in the production of content and the use of technology,”Grossman recalls for a trade paper.
Grossman’s activity at the PGA included helping launch the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
His wife Joan of 53 years; his daughter Jennifer; Spencer Burke, his son-in-law; Brenden Burke, his grandson; and two sisters and one brother are his survivors.
Groman Eden Mortuary Mission Hills will hold a service of respect on Thursday, November 3rd 2022 at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
