Swimmer appears not to notice Donald Trump’s attempts to kiss him on stage at CPAC

One swimmer was filmed trying to avoid Donald Trump’s attempt at hugging her at the Conservative Political Action Conference, (CPAC).

Riley Gaines, a former University of Kentucky swimmer who has been critical of University Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas, who is trans, for competing in the women’s division, was welcomed on stage by the controversial former president where they shook hands. It looked as though he was reaching out to kiss her cheek to greet her, but she seemed to frown and then move on.

Gaines continued to criticize trans rights and trans women competing in sport with cisgendered woman onstage and said it “takes a brain, common sense, and fifth grade biology-level understanding to realise this is blatantly unfair.”

Although it’s controversial, Trump’s flinching is not something that people can sympathize with on social media.

Trump also suggested that the Department of Education be abolished and hinted at a run for the presidency in 2024, as if the world could get worse.

It’s no wonder people don’t want to be around him.
