10 Pro Tips for Visiting Universal Orlando that Will Save You Money

A MOM is not holding back on her go-to travel tips, saying some common mistakes could hike up the bill. She also offered advice on how to enjoy Universal Orlando while sticking to the family budget.

Eva Chen of USA Today supplied the must-know travel advice in an article by Yahoo News. Her advice is clearly golden, as she said she visits Orlando multiple times annually. She recommended 10 tips total for visiting the vacation hot spot. Chen also pointed out three major flaws people make when checking out Universal Orlando.

JUST SAY NO
Chen outlined the what to steer clear from when making a trip to the Sunshine State. First, she recommended sizing down on that excess baggage to make room for more fun. She warned that some attractions don’t allow certain size bags on — making park-goers resort to lockers. “I previously recommended keeping most of your things together to avoid having to empty every pocket each time. That’s still true, but I want to add a caveat on size,” she said. “The free lockers aren’t very big. They can fit a Loungefly-style mini backpack or empty popcorn bucket, if you squish them down, but they’re not large enough for packed full-size backpacks. Keep that in mind unless you want to pay for larger lockers.”

POP OFF
Although Chen focused on money-saving advice, she said that doesn’t mean skimping out on snack time. She recommended buying a popcorn bucket while at Universal Orlando. “A plain popcorn bucket costs a little over $12, and you can keep getting refills throughout your trip,” she said. “Refills cost around $2 each, making popcorn among the cheapest, most shareable snacks on property. On our last trip, my family and I got multiple refills for the price of one pretzel with cheese dip.”

LINE IT UP
Singletons or those who enjoy riding alone have a thing or two to learn from Chen. She advised not to ignore the single-ride lines in the park. Her hack could save visitors a lot of time, giving them more opportunities to explore other offerings. “Many attractions have a single-rider lane,” she said. “If you’re traveling alone or don’t mind your party being split up, you can save time using the single-rider lane, if it’s open. They’re not always offered. It doesn’t guarantee a short wait, but it’s usually shorter.”
