Spielberg’s ‘Thursday Murder Club’ Author’s ‘The Da Vinci Code’Plan

Richard Osman is a British TV Presenter who became an author and broke records with his debut novel. Thursday Murder Club, has revealed plans for a brand new crime series – like The Da Vinci Code.

This will be music to the ears of both Osman’s publishers and whoever scoops up the movie rights. The Da Vinci Codesold 84million copies when it was published in 2003 and the film took $760million at the box office on its release at 2006.

Osman, who sold Steven Spielberg the film rights to his first novel, has an agreement to write four more novels. Thursday Murder Club series – the first was released in 2020 and broke UK sales records for a debut novel, and the second also sat at the top of the fiction chart when it was released last year. The third book will be released this September.

Osman has now given up his daytime presenter gig on the quiz show. PointlessHe told BBC that he will be focusing on writing and that he would like to create a new series. “a sort of Thursday Murder Club meets The Da Vinci Code.”

“I thought, I’d love a quite funny, quite smart, Da Vinci Code,”He spoke to the BBC.

“I’d love one of those books that’s a caper around the world, but that also has some truth about the world, and also makes you laugh and has also has some of the aesthetic of Thursday Murder Club, but it’s Da Vinci Code. And I couldn’t quite find one.

“So I thought I’d quite like to do that – a sort of Thursday Murder Club meets The Da Vinci Code.”
